The Detroit Pistons are just a half game ahead of the Washington Wizards in the battle for the worst record in the NBA.

The Detroit Pistons lottery odds

One thing is for certain: The Pistons will finish the season in the bottom three again, giving them the maximum odds of 14 percent for the number one pick, though, in this draft, that may matter less than ever before as there is absolutely no consensus on who that player will be.

The only mystery remaining is whether the Pistons will for sure be in the top five (which would require them to finish with the worst record again) or if they could potentially fall to sixth by finishing with the second-worst record. Yay.

Predicting what the Pistons will do with that pick is a fool's gambit, as they could just take the best player available, could draft for need or could trade the pick as part of a package to try and land a more established player.

If the Pistons draft for need, they will look for a forward who can shoot whether that person plays on the wing or is more of a stretch four. They could also use a big to protect the rim, though they already have two project bigs, so it would be smarter to sign a veteran free agent to flank them.

The only thing that would be shocking is if the Pistons drafted another guard, which is exactly what they did in a recent Mock Draft.
