Less of a no-brainer: Trading Bojan Bogdanovic for a first-round pick

Again, there is no evidence that a team is offering a first-rounder for Bojan, though there were reports that the Pistons turned down two of them last season.

Adding another first-round pick this season would allow the Pistons to make bigger trades, as they would immediately be able to use their own first-round pick as an asset instead of waiting for draft day.

Even if the pick were further in the future, this is not a team on the cusp of being competitive, so shouldn't they be adding assets? It's a fair question.

The flip side is that Bogdanovic is still a good player on a reasonable deal and he'll probably be worth just as much next season. If the Pistons have bigger plans that will allow them to push Bogdanovic to a more suitable role as a sniper off the bench, then keeping him makes some sense.

We've seen deals like this one floated, with the opposing fans saying it's too much and Pistons fans saying it's not enough, but this is likely the type of deal they could get for Bogdanovic: A late first-round pick, an expiring contract and a project.

If we knew the rest of the Pistons' future moves it would be easier to say whether this would be smart, but if the Pistons plan on bringing back Bogey as the starting small forward, then for god's sake trade him now.
