3. Trading the 2024 1st-round pick

This may go along with the first entry, as packaging Ivey with the 2024 1st-round pick may be the best way for the Pistons to land an impact talent.

The problem is that this draft is not great. I am sure it will eventually produce a few stars, but guessing which one it is going to be is a crapshoot at best this season, as there is not a Victor Wembanyama or anything close to a consensus.

While that may make the value of the pick less than it would be in a different year, it also makes the prospect of trading back or out of the draft altogether more appealing. Adding another teenager to this team isn’t going to do anything, so if the Pistons can use this pick to get a proven player, they have to be ready to pounce on draft day, which is the first time they can trade their pick.
