The Detroit Pistons dropped their schedule this week along with how and where you can watch and stream all of the games.
The good news is that it will be much easier next season, as most of the games are on some form of free TV, which was a smart move by the Pistons that should widen the fanbase.
There will still be streaming services to navigate, and some of this will change based on your location, but here is everything you need to know.
How to watch Pistons games for free
There will be as many as 68 games shown for free on local broadcasts and NBC, which is a huge jump from previous seasons when you needed cable TV and/or streaming packages to watch games.
Games will be broadcast locally in Grand Rapids on The Spot Grand Rapids 17 and Fox 17 WXMI-TV, and on WYMD-TV channel 20 in Detroit.
Get the rabbit ears out of the closet, as you’ll be able to watch most of the games on free TV if you live in the Grand Rapids or Detroit regions.
The following seven games will be shown for free on NBC:
-October 20 vs. Celtics
-October 27 @ Knicks
-November 17 @ Spurs
-December 22 @ OKC
-January 18 @ Cavaliers
-March 9 vs. Cavaliers
-March 16 @ Pacers
Some of the NBA franchises finally figured out that making it easier to watch games will actually grow the fanbase, which is a good thing, and you’ll be able to see a lot more games for free next season.
Where to watch games on cable TV
If you had cable only to watch Pistons games, then congrats, you can probably cancel it and save yourself a load of money. The FanDuel Sports Network is mercifully dead (who could have seen that coming?) but there will be some games on cable TV.
The following five games are on ESPN:
-November 4 vs. 76ers
-January 27 @ Cavaliers
-February 3 vs. Knicks
-February 17 vs. Knicks
-March 5 vs. Celtics
The Pistons will play six of their nationally televised games against the Cavaliers and Knicks combined, so we can see which matchups the NBA is trying to promote in the East this season.
Where to stream Pistons games
If you live outside of the region, or the country (like me), then your best option for streaming is NBA League Pass, as you get every game and can watch them whenever you want.
You can also buy packages for one team or purchase them on a game-to-game basis, but if you watch a lot of NBA, it’s worth it.

The Pistons will tip off the NBA season in the afternoon against the Celtics and will have a difficult first month of the season.
And as you can see, they will have plenty of big games on national TV next season, as well as on free local broadcasts, so we should see the city of Detroit get behind this team like we haven’t seen since they were hanging banners in the Palace.
