Detroit Pistons legend and NBA champion Chauncey Billups is reportedly under consideration for the Atlanta Hawks’ GM position.

On May 3rd the Hawks fired general manager Wes Wilcox who had spent two seasons with them as their GM. The search for a new GM has been in full force as of late. Former Detroit Pistons GM Joe Dumars was one of the first candidates that were into the discussion for the Hawks’ new GM.  According to The Vertical Adrian Wojnarowski has stated that Billups is now in the debate for the job.

Per Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press:

"Wojnarowski wrote: “Atlanta is considering a number of candidates, including (Cleveland general manager Joe) Griffin, Joe Dumars, Houston vice president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas, and New York Knicks director of player personnel Mark Hughes, sources said. Atlanta is also planning to discuss the GM opening with television analysts and former players Chauncey Billups and Brent Barry, league sources told The Vertical.”"

The five-time all-star might be heading to the Atlanta Hawks next season but working as an ESPN analyst could lessen his chances of becoming the Hawks’ next GM. Just last week, Billups signed a multiyear deal with ESPN which would expand his role as an NBA analyst.

Ellis goes on to say:

"But Billups has always been open about his interest in pursuing a front office position. He was interested in the Pistons’ opening when Dumars was demoted as president of basketball operations near the end of the 2013-14 season."

Billups, who is only 40 years of age, could be leading a different team into glory land besides the Pistons next season.
