Who might the Detroit Pistons target in the 2018 NBA draft?
Jevon Carter – Point Guard, West Virginia, Senior
This is one guy I’d be thrilled about seeing on the Pistons roster. He is an older, NBA-ready point guard who can contribute from day one.
Carter is an excellent defender, solid shooter, and a smart playmaker. He’s limited physically; lacking burst, jumping ability, and length, but he is well-rounded in almost every other category.
He shot just under 40 percent from three, and his 86 percent free-throw rate suggests his shooting is for real.
He is slightly limited as a playmaker, but the Pistons are currently overflowing with playmaking in the frontcourt (Blake Griffin, Andre Drummond). Because of this, the team might be well-suited to have a good spot-up shooter running point. While he won’t be dazzling anyone with his playmaking, he is more than capable of running the pick-and-roll and can make any pass on the floor while limiting mistakes.
