Ranking Andre Drummond’s 10 best games of career
By Eric Black
3. March 29, 2015 – Loss at Miami
The line: 14/17, 32 points, 14 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal, 33.3 Game Score
Reggie Jackson and Drummond combined for 26-of-34 shooting and 63 points. The rest of the squad? 14-for-49 and 39 points. Ouch.
The next year, the Pistons had much better luck and made the playoffs. This team had 34-year-old Tayshaun Prince play 23 minutes. Before we all knew who Spencer Dinwiddie could be, he went 0-for-5 in this game from the floor. Jodie Meeks was this team’s sixth man. Remember Shawne Williams? Of course you don’t, he’s Shawne Williams.
Needless to say, Drummond was one of the few bright spots on this struggling team. He tied a career high in Field Goals Made with 14, but playing against a 34-year-old Udonis Haslem certainly helped. If you’ve seen Haslem run recently, it looks like he’s got boots on because of how slow he is. Going up against a 21 year old Andre Drummond proved to be a tall order.
The problem is Haslem also went 8-for-13 from the field which negated a lot of what Drummond did on offense. The Heat really struggled outside of Dwyane Wade and Haslem and Detroit did not have a perimeter threat who could match Wade’s output, despite Jackson’s 31 points.
Miami led for over 32 minutes in this game, aided by Wade’s 40 point game and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope‘s lack of efficiency. 4-for-15 from the field and 0-for-6 from three. But, hey at least he’s trying I suppose, unlike Caron Butler‘s 0-for-1 performance from the field. You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take, which either Michael Scott or Wayne Gretzky has said, but I’m not sure.
