Beasley’s Outlook

While a large portion of the Pistons fan base was clamoring for the team to sign the veteran forward Carmelo Anthony, the front office went in a different direction with the surprise signing of Beasley. I will reiterate that Beasley’s place on the roster is not a guarantee. Beasley was signed to a non-guaranteed contract so it is very well possible that the front office has no intent to keep him on the roster and is only using him for training camp competition.

On the other hand they could see Beasley as a valuable forward off the bench who is worth clearing space on the roster for. At 30 years old, Beasley still has some years of good basketball left in the tank. In addition, Beasley’s length at 6-foot-9 would be a huge plus for a Pistons team that was sorely lacking in larger wings last season.
