Pistons offense vs. Mavericks defense

Detroit needs to find an answer offensively after two poor shooting showings in last year’s season series. The Pistons have improved their perimeter shooting, on paper, this offseason. But their needs to be a few players to compliment Drummond.

He was dominant against another premier rebounder in the league, DeAndre Jordan, who is now with the Brooklyn Nets. Even if Porzingis spends time at center, though he likely matches up better against Griffin, Drummond should have plenty of looks around the basket and can dominate the glass.

The two-guard spot is where the Pistons could have an opportunity for scoring. Where Bruce Brown is strong defensively, he was perfect in one game last season. Off the bench, Luke Kennard could have a field day against Seth Curry, who is as good of a 3-point shooter as anybody but has a career -1.2 defensive box plus/minus.

Depending on where Doncic fits defensively, the Pistons could exploit a weakness at point guard with Reggie Jackson matching up against Jalen Brunson or Delon Wright. Or, it could be Snell giving them fits on the wing.

Regardless of who it is, someone will need to step up and aid Drummond’s offensive output. Griffin was taken out of the series last year defensively and it’s a possibility it happens again this season going against Porzingis.
