Detroit Pistons vs. Sacramento Kings 2019-20 season preview
Kings O vs. Pistons D
Sacramento needs to stick to its strength of hitting from long range, even though Detroit was ninth in opponent’s 3-point percentage at 34.5 percent. Something is going to have to give but the Kings need to stick to their strengths.
It’s hard to piece together what the Kings are going to do with their starting rotation. Assuming Ariza is in the starting unit, Barnes could be their X-factor with the second unit. Whether it’s alongside Bogdan Bogdanovic or someone else on the wing, Barnes brings a unique athleticism that the Pistons can’t match with their second unit.
Tony Snell can handle whoever starts on the wing along with Bruce Brown, but defense isn’t Kennard’s forte, Joe Johnson is going to have to prove himself and defense is a question mark surrounding Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk. Dwane Casey is going to have to get creative to defend the Kings’ assets.
Any ground the Pistons make with the starting rotation could quickly be erased with the Kings second unit. The best Detroit defense might be using Brown and Snell with an uptick of minutes to aid the rotations that supply the offense.
