Detroit Pistons vs Miami Heat 2019-20 season preview
Pistons O vs. Heat D
The offensive tandem of Griffin and Drummond is entering their second full season together. The Pistons have brought on more play makers like Derrick Rose and Joe Johnson to help with both pick-and-roll’s, as well as just alleviating some of the work load for the two bigs overall.
The Pistons expect Kennard to take a significant leap this season. He’s slowly progressed and is a more experienced version of the Heat’s Herro.
Miami will inevitably have a difficult time covering the paint against Detroit, as Griffin and Drummond will more than likely prove to be overwhelmingly aggressive. If a challenge does arise – that’s fine too. Detroit is looking to become a “pick your poison” type of team, and the two big men can just as easily kick the ball back out to the perimeter for a high percentage look.
Leonard has proven that he can be an above average rim protector and alongside Adebayo – if they ever went with a big lineup – that could pose serious issues for Detroit’s interior offense.
On the wings Detroit has the advantage. Butler is far and away the best defender Miami has, however he can’t guard everyone. This will create ball movement along the perimeter and give Detroit high percentage looks.
The Pistons ultimately could dominate the Heat offensively.
