Dealing with Thunder

The Detroit Pistons need to improve defensively and Nerlens Noel would help them on the interior, providing a backup to Drummond. The 25-year-old is in his sixth season and has a career defensive rating of 101. His offensive rating has risen over 122 and is up to 129 this season.

Noel signed a one-year, $2.02 million deal this summer and could play his way to a better contract. While the Thunder are tied with the Suns and Kings for the seventh spot in the West, they may make the most of their trade assets.

Detroit could deal an assortment of players but Thon Maker would clear a spot in the frontcourt rotation. With Morris shooting the ball well and fitting into his role off the bench, Noel could fit in to a similar role that Drummond plays while coming off the bench.

So far this season, Noel is averaging 7.7 points, 5 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1 steal in 18.6 minutes per game. He’s converting 65.4% of field goal attempts and is hitting 80.4% from the free throw line.
