Detroit Pistons: Dennis Smith Jr. and Saben Lee want to keep rolling

One of the bright spots of the season has been the play of young point guards Dennis Smith Jr. and Saben Lee, who have both stepped up when given opportunities because of injury.

Smith Jr. recorded a triple-double against the Raptors and showed that he can contribute even on nights when he doesn’t shoot well.

Saben Lee continues to be efficient as a scorer and distributor and has earned at least a look for next season’s roster.

They would both like to keep this up against the Knicks and head into the break with some momentum.

If the Pistons end up trading Wright and Ellington as is expected, then the two young point guards will get plenty of run over the rest of the season.

It would be nice for one or both of them to solidify a role so that the Detroit Pistons have one less question mark heading into the offseason. If they could pencil one or both in as a low-cost backup, then it will make it much easier to add pieces where they need them most.

The Detroit Pistons are tanking but are still a compelling team with many interesting stories to follow.
