Detroit Pistons: Saddiq Bey is in the record books again
Rookie Saddiq Bey has been outstanding for the Detroit Pistons this season and was able to put himself into the record books again last night.
Bey has already broken the record for made 3-pointers by a Pistons’ rookie and is getting closer to the All-Time NBA record as well.
He is at the very top of an elite list of rookie shooters when it comes to accuracy and volume and is likely to finish in the top-five of Rookie of the Year voting after being selected 19th in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Forget about the last draft, Bey absolutely looks like one of the biggest draft steals in Pistons’ history, as he is already a polished defender who can rebound and shoot the 3-pointer.
When he starts adding more elements to his offensive game, Bey could end up being a multiple All-Star for the Pistons. Well done, Troy Weaver.
Bey went into video game mode last night against the Cavaliers, hitting 6-of-8 from long range in the first quarter, breaking yet another record along the way.
Detroit Pistons: Saddiq Bey breaks another record
Bey recorded his 5th game this season with at least six made 3-pointers, which is the All-Time record for rookies in the NBA.
Bey now has 132 made 3-pointers for the season, just 55 away from tying the All-Time record for rookies.
He will need to make nearly four per game from here on out to break it, so it is a long shot, but when you consider that Bey came into the league viewed as a defensive specialist, the Detroit Pistons have to be ecstatic about this display of shooting.
Bey was a good 3-point shooter in college but no one saw this coming.
The Detroit Pistons have something special in Saddiq Bey, who is not only shattering all Pistons’ rookie records for shooting but is starting to get into the All-Time NBA records as well.
This season couldn’t have gone much better for Saddiq Bey and the Detroit Pistons’ rebuild is well on its way.
