Detroit Pistons: Cory Joseph, tank killer

Cory Joseph is one of the Pistons’ veterans who has been sitting with a dubious injury in an effort to get the young guys more minutes and rack up a few more “L’s.”

We can see why, as Joseph has quietly been very effective since coming to the Pistons, and if it weren’t for his hefty salary next season, he’s a guy they might try to retain as a backup point guard.

Joseph had 18 points, 11 assists, four rebounds and three steals in his return, which might prompt the Pistons to find another injury for him.

With rookie Killian Hayes resting after playing a back-to-back, Joseph stepped back in and played well, set up his teammates and played tough perimeter defense.

It’s almost like he didn’t get the memo about the tank!

I’m guessing Joseph will be hurt in the next game vs. the 76ers and we’ll get another start from the rookie.

If the Detroit Pistons lose the rest of these games, then this one win won’t make a difference in the standings, but it will help keep the young players confident and engaged heading into the offseason.
