Detroit Pistons: The Killian Hayes and Saddiq Bey pick-and-roll

One element of Hayes’ game that has gotten some attention of late is his ability in the pick-and-roll.

He has looked a lot more confident and comfortable with the ball since returning from injury, especially in the pick-and-roll, where Hayes has the potential to be special.

He has the ability to slow the game down, to get into the lane using hesitation and change of speed. Hayes keeps defenses off guard because they are never sure what he is going to do with the ball, as he keeps his head up and always looks to pass first.

With so many players sitting out, tonight would be a good chance for him to start running the PnR with Saddiq Bey, as this could be a future weapon.

With Bey’s ability to shoot the three, and Hayes’ ability to penetrate, this should be a productive pairing in the future, though one we’ve seen very little of this season.

I would love to see the two of them running the pick-and-roll on the perimeter tonight to start to develop that chemistry, as this play could be very difficult to stop, especially as the two of them add more nuance to their offensive games.

The Detroit Pistons have almost hit every goal they set for this season, but they need to finish with two more losses to get it done.
