Detroit Pistons: NBA Mock Draft 5.0 pick No. 3

Gonzaga / Oklahoma City Thunder. 3. player. 149. Pick Analysis. Point guard. Jalen Suggs. Scouting Report

Our first trade!

With the next few players on the big board projected to be guards and with the Cavaliers already having two talented young guards in Darius Garland and Collin Sexton, it makes sense for them to trade back and pick up a couple of extra picks.

OKC has a ton of picks over the next two years, including three first rounders in this NBA Draft, so they will trade quantity for quality and get their point guard of the future in Jalen Suggs.

With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander already on board, Suggs would give them another playmaker at the guard position and allow SGA to play in his more natural position off the ball.

Of course, there are rumblings that the Cavaliers are considering moving on from Sexton, so they could very well package him in a trade and keep this pick if they think Suggs or Green are too good to pass up.

But Cleveland already has three talented guards, so it makes sense to trade back if the guy they like will be there at six anyway.
