Detroit Pistons: Possible NBA free agents, power forward James Johnson

Like shooting guard, power forward is another position where the Detroit Pistons already have plenty of guys.

Jerami Grant will be the starter and get most of the minutes, Isaiah Stewart can and will play some there and Sekou Doumbouya will also be trying to earn minutes if he is not traded in the offseason.

If the Pistons were to bring in a power forward, they’d like to grab a veteran with some toughness who can defend and will compete for minutes with their young backups.

James Johnson would be a good choice as a tough and smart veteran who can still play defense all over the court and will be the first one to stand up if there is some kind of scrap.

He has an old school mentality, which I like, and he was able to bring a bit of that toughness to the New Orleans Pelicans late last season, which was a help for their young team.
