Detroit Pistons: NBA Draft trade with the Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizzlies are pretty much set as a team but might want to move a superfluous player to take risk on a project and pick up a future draft pick.

Brandon Clarke is a guy I have written about in the past, as he seems like a Troy Weaver type, and after getting some DNP’s in the playoffs, might be out of the Grizzlies’ future plans.

If Clarke is truly not part of their plans, then the Grizzlies might consider moving him for a younger project player who they can put in the G-League or develop off their bench.

They also get a future first round pick, though again this is complicated by Detroit’s obligation to Houston, so it might be way down the road and would be top-20 protected.

The Pistons get another long, versatile defender in Brandon Clarke, who would be an immediate upgrade at backup power forward and really seems more like a Troy Weaver type of player than Doumbouya.

It would be taking a flyer on a guy who could get better in an expanded role for the Pistons, as Jerami Grant and Josh Jackson have done.
