Detroit Pistons: NBA Draft trade with the Indiana Pacers

The Pacers are an interesting team, as they may have hit a ceiling with this current veteran group and could use an injection of youth. If the Detroit Pistons draft Cade Cunningham, then they might view Killian Hayes as superfluous, though I think the two would make a nice backcourt duo.

If so, there might be something to work out for the Pacers’ 13th pick.

Would the Pistons trade last year’s number seven pick for number 13 in a deeper draft? In this trade the Pacers get their point guard of the future, a pass first guy who fits in with the group they have and would pair nicely with Caris LeVert.

The Pistons get a 24-year-old point guard to be the backup to Cunningham in Holiday and the 13th pick and the Pacers get to take a flyer on a higher upside player in Hayes.

This would probably be giving up too early on Hayes for the Pistons, who would only do this if Troy Weaver really liked the guy they could get at 13. If someone like James Bouknight were still there, I think the Pistons would consider this, otherwise they’d probably pass.
