Detroit Pistons: These 5 sophomores are thriving

Desmond Bane- Memphis Grizzlies

One of the biggest surprises this season has been the play of Bane, who has made a huge leap so far. He is getting 19.3 per game, 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists, all way up from last season. His 3-point attempts are also way up and he is still hitting 40 percent of them. What a start for Bane, who now looks like the steal from last year’s draft.

LaMelo Ball- Charlotte Hornets

Ball has picked right up where he left of in his Rookie of the Year campaign. His team is near the top of the standings and he is averaging 19.6 points, six rebounds and 5.6 rebounds per game.

He’s been overshadowed so far by his teammate Miles Bridges, who is a guy I’d love the Detroit Pistons to try and get.

Isaiah Stewart- Detroit Pistons

Stewart has increased his per game output in pretty much every category, and if it weren’t for Saddiq Bey, we’d probably be talking about Stewart, who has had a strong start. He is up to 10.3 points, nine rebounds and 1.7 assists per game while also adding 1.3 blocks. Stewart’s ceiling is the next Bam Adebayo and so far he is looking the part.

Anthony Edwards- Minnesota Timbewolves

What a start for Edwards, who looks like the best young scorer in the game right now. He is averaging 25.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists, numbers that will put him the MVP and MIP discussions if he keeps it up all year.

Saddiq Bey- Detroit Pistons

It’s a good sign when you have two players on this part of the list and so far, Saddiq Bey has been as good as pretty much any second-year player in the NBA. He is averaging 18 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists even though he has shot the ball poorly from long range.

Saddiq is showing a much-improved offensive bag, has been defending all over the place and has been the Pistons’ best rebounder so far.
