How long will each player be on the Detroit Pistons?

Jerami Grant, 27 years old, under contract until 2023

Jerami Grant has been included in trade rumors, but has not been moved yet and currently seems to be here to stay. Well, that’s a good thing as he’s still the anchor of this team and its best player. If he gets through this season without being traded, the Pistons should definitely pay him what he’s worth and allow him to retire in Detroit.

Josh Jackson, 24 years old, a free agent after this season

Last season, Jackson had more minutes, more points, and was a generally more important piece. In fact, this season has been the worst one of his career. I expect another team to sign him because based on the minutes he’s gotten it would suggest he’s out of here by the summer if not the trade deadline.

Isaiah Stewart, 20 years old, under contract until 2024

If you ask anyone in America right now who Isaiah Stewart is, they’ll tell you he’s the nutcase that attacked LeBron. If you asked anyone before the fight, they’d say he’s a promising young defender. If you ask a Pistons fan who he is, they’ll tell you he’s the best prospect ever. He’s a fan favorite, that’s for sure, but unless he improves his offense I think he’ll fizzle out in a few years. He’ll either be in Detroit until 2024 or 2035, and there will not be an in-between.

Killian Hayes, 20 years old, under contract until 2024

Some feel Hayes should be backing up Cade, but he’s still a starter. Hi 3-point shooting has improved but that’s been the only positive of his season so far, though he shows a lot of promise on the defensive end. Depending on what the Pistons do in the NBA Draft,  Hayes might not be on the roster next season, as he could be included as part of a trade package. If Hayes improves he can be the second guard with Cade, but if not, they could go in a different direction before his rookie deal is up.

Hamidou Diallo, 23 years old, under contract until 2023

Diallo is, for no good reason, my favorite Piston. That being said, I don’t think anyone would say that Detroit and Diallo are a good fit. For starters, he has already gotten into at least one spat with Dwane Casey. His numbers and minutes have dropped off this season, although after a breakout game last month against the Lakers he has gotten more playing time and been more productive, so it’s with a lot of uncertainty I say he will be in Detroit no longer than 2023.
