Starting off the Pistons' three-year streak of fifth overall picks, Jaden Ivey is also a player who has shown flashes of being a great scoring option, but it is still a bit early to jump to a verdict on his ceiling.
Ivey's biggest problem has been his inconsistency, and this season was nothing short of that. Some of Ivey's counting stats that the team hoped to improve declined from his rookie season, going from 16.3 points per game to 15.4, along with falling from 5.2 assists per game to 3.8. On top of that, the shooting splits were not great. Shooting only around 34 percent from three and 75 percent from the free throw line, Ivey finds himself below average in that field compared to the league averages for shooting guards.
The beginning of the season also brought a bit of an odd situation to the young two-guard, with new head coach Monty Williams benching Ivey, noting a lack in defense. If the Pistons decide to keep the former Boilermaker standout, he will have to adjust his game to go alongside Cade Cunningham. However, after a great rookie season and with a year under the new regime in his belt, it's not too early to panic on Jaden Ivey.
