Makers’ Outlook

While the Pistons have made strong moves this off season, acquiring new pieces and improving the bench, Thon looks to be at the helm of it all in the front court.

Maker is a player where stats don’t tell the whole story, he can have zero stats across the board and still find a way to change the game, especially on the defensive end, or off of pure hustle and energy.

Coming off of only 34 games with the Pistons last year, and now having a whole summer to work, not only on his game, but with the team as a whole, with the improvement of the bench, and the continuous growth in chemistry, we can expect him to help the team get back to their winning ways.

Maker is a solid big man, with a lot of heart, and now having the opportunity to play with improved talent in the second unit, along with the trust instilled in him by Casey, expect for the 22-year-old big man to blossom.

Casey after a win against the Wizards in February said, “I love the way he competes. His spirit is in the right place. He’s about winning. I just love the energy Thon brings.” Those are words every player wants to hear from their coach.

Many players just need the right coach, or system, or players around them, and I strongly believe Thon Maker has found a home in Detroit. With this being the last year in his rookie contract expect for the team to retain him, he most likely will be wearing a Pistons uniform for years to come. He’s a Bad Boy inside and out.
