Detroit Pistons: Defensive Player of the Year- Isaiah Stewart

Possibly the grittiest player on this Piston’s roster, Isaiah Stewart not only leads the team in blocks per game this season with 1.3 blocks per contest, but he is also first among all rookies in defensive win shares this season and 61st among all players in the league with 2.1.

Stewart’s game is reminiscent of the Going to Work era of the 2000s. The rookie’s defensive hustle and determination to collect every rebound frustrates his opponents. Stewart is a defensive anchor for this Pistons team, and he has shown the potential to become one of the top rim protectors in the league moving forward.

The 6-8 center out of Washington has made his initial impact on the league through his defensive prowess, and it is that defense that has him in consideration for an All-NBA Rookie team selection this season.
